January

  • Monday 17th – 10 am – 2 pm Masterclass
  • Friday 21st – Muster Jam Night – 6 – 9 pm at The Venue Bowral – students in Years 7 – 12 from the Southern Highlands are invited to come and perform with professional PA, lights and stage in a safe and nurturing environment. Pizza/burgers and drinks are provided.
  •  Weekly performance lessons begin with Richard Lane

February

  • Friday 4th – Muster Jam Night – 6 – 9 pm at The Venue Bowral 
  • Friday 11th – Sing in Self Esteem 6 pm- 9 pm at The Venue Bowral – Richard Lane runs an evening for 6 students who love singing but just need a little bit of added support. It is a mini-Muster Jam Night without the crowd. It gives our young singers the opportunity to jump on stage, without additional eyes so they can have the freedom to express themselves through music and song. The Muster is inclusive of varying abilities at all events.
  • Friday 18th – Muster Jam Night – 6 – 9 pm at The Venue Bowral 
  • Sunday 27th – Showcase – 2 pm at Fairground Follies Bowral – The Muster highlights our emerging young performers who have had the opportunity to Jam with other Muster students at our Friday night gigs and those who have graduated from the Sing in Self Esteem program. These are bi-monthly concerts for family, friends and supporters of the Vocal Muster. It is a wonderful way to follow young artists and watch their growth in performing to an audience.

  • Friday 4th – Muster Jam Night – 6 – 9 pm at The Venue Bowral 
  • Sunday 6th – Recording and interview of 4 young Muster artists with Highland FM – four emerging performers are selected by Richard Lane to broadcast live on Highland FM’s 100% Home-grown (every Saturday night 5 pm- 7pm on Highland FM 107.1). This is a fantastic opportunity for our performers to learn how to perform live on radio and be interviewed by various presenters. The Muster works with the performers in preparation for their live broadcast to ensure they are confident and comfortable answering all the presenter’s questions.

COVID safe events June-October 2021

  • Vocal Muster performance lessons continued online via Zoom with Richard Lane.
  • All Muster HSC students supported to complete their final pieces.
  • Support given to Muster performers submitting University auditions.
  • Muster Performers recorded songs on Garage Band as part of the ‘Lounge Room Sessions’. These songs will be uploaded into Spotify.
  • Four day song writing course, Song Circle, completed online via Zoom.

Changes to the muster due to covid

  • Since March, 2020, we have had to rapidly embrace the digital world with online Master Classes via Zoom. There were 9 of these classes and over 160 students attended.  These Master Classes were only made possible by the involvement of a range of successful entertainment professionals.
  • Together with Wingecarribee Shire Council, the Vocal Muster presented a virtual Community Christmas Concert in December 2020. With thanks to Aaron Media Group for producing the concert in conjunction with WSC. You can watch the concert here.
  • Anzac Day Service with “In Flanders Fields” poem read and recorded by Vocal Muster performers, and Richard Lane singing the National Anthem broadcasted onto local radio.
  • A specialised Masterclass with Nicholas Hammond at Fairground Follies, Bowral, where the totality of the performance was packaged and filmed.
  • A specialised Masterclass with Zoe Carides at Berrima Retreat, Berrima, where the totality of the performance was packaged and filmed.
  • Together with Berrima Rotary, the Vocal Muster presented an online “United in Care” concert which provided much needed entertainment to the local Southern Highlands Community during the first NSW COVID19 lockdown in 2020 and was streamed into a number of Aged Care facilities and on YouTube. With thanks to Berrima Rotary, Luminous Entertainment, Ian Scandrett, Nathaniel Smith, Wendy Tuckerman, Zoe Carides, Ric Meijas, Frank Rodrigues, Debra Blackah, Julia Lane, and Aaron Media Group.   • “Finding your Outside Voice” workshop with Vocal Muster Ambassador Nicholas Hammond, David Letch and Dr Stephen Mould, at Fairground Follies, Bowral. With thanks to The Southern Highlands Foundation, McDonald’s Moss Vale, Steven Foster Photography, John Martin, Aaron Media Group, and our industry professionals.

  • ‘The Cockatoo Train Run’, from Central Sydney to Robertson
  • ‘Pie Time’, Bong Bong Racetrack, Bowral
  • ‘Pies and Pinot’ night, Robertson Bowling Club
  • Supporting artists for the Adam Harvey concert, Robertson Bowling Club
  • Organising and providing entertainment on Australia Day, Berrima fundraiser for local RFS

The Muster has hosted events for its performers and these include:
  • Muster Jam Nights, where over 50 students have attended to sing, perform, run sound and lighting equipment and collaborate together as peers.
  • Four Muster Awards Nights with significant prizes for those competing, judged by independent industry professionals. Past judges include Muster Ambassador Nicholas Hammond, and Dave Letch.
